The social media mystery?
I’m going to use a very worn out phrase: “Social Media”.
It seems everyone knows how important it is, but how do you really make it work for your business?
Nearly 5 years ago, when we created The DDD Directory, I was faced with a challenge: Build a network, create web traffic, connect with the
aftermarket, make ads that perform, and provide solutions for automotive businesses.
A huge part of this growing process has been search engine optimization and, of course, social media.
My personal favorite social networking sites are Facebook and Twitter, both of which you and your business can benefit from tremendously at no cost.
How to make facebook work for your business right now
Facebook is personal BEFORE business. In other words, it is probably the best type of social media because the initial connection is always
personal.
Your friends & family can “connect” to you and you can share pictures, comments, and collaborate in a secure environment that invites others
into your network.
People often wonder: “How does this tie in with business if it’s so personal and secure?”
Facebook has developed a very clever, unimposing way to help companies market themselves. Facebook users can “become a fan” of their favorite
brands, or can learn about new brands based on their friend’s favorite brands.
Businesses don’t send you direct messages unless you ASK for them, but you are still exposed to new brands according to what your peers choose as
favorites. It’s an ingenious, fun, addicting social model.
Facebook can help you make many buying choices and save you a good amount of money on nearly anything.
For example, JC Flugger (from Flowmaster) became a fan of a website called “
>Geeks.com”, a bargain electronics store.
I was notified of this in my facebook “live feed” because JC and I are connected on facebook.
Since then, I’ve made several purchases from geeks.com, including a backup drive, wireless router, mouse, printer, USB hub and several
adapters.
In addition to this, I also chose to “become a fan” of geeks.com on facebook, so my network can learn about their bargain website and so I can learn
about their latest specials.
Facebook saves me money every day and I learn about new businesses in my own niche every day.
This applies to ANY business. It’s like watching TV and literally choosing which brands are in the commercials!
Take action and get your business on facebook!
First, create your own personal facebook page at www.facebook.com
Create your profile, find some friends and connect with them.
After you’ve done that, go to the facebook business sector, which is called “facebook pages”
href=”http://e2ma.net/go/2171400749/1979330/73218939/goto:http://www.facebook.com/advertising/?pages” target=”_blank” >located here.
Create your business facebook profile, link it to your personal account, then alert your friends and ask them to become a fan of your business.
The networking begins!
Facebook Connect allows you to have a page for your business where you can attach your media, videos, information and where you can make
announcements to all of your fans.
When a person becomes a fan of your business, all of their “friends” will know about it and can also choose to become a fan.
Even if they do not become a fan, they will be exposed to your brand and it costs you nothing!
