Extang and TruXedo Acquire Assets of BedRug from Wise Industries

THI, the parent company of Extang Corporation and TruXedo, Inc., has acquired the operating assets of BedRug from Wise Industries, Inc. THI is the leading manufacturer of soft tonneau covers for light duty trucks in North America and was created as an investment vehicle by Kinderhook Industries, a highly respected New York private equity firm, to pursue acquisition opportunities in the truck aftermarket.

BedRug is the leading manufacturer of high-end cushioned and carpeted protective liners for the bed of a pickup truck. The BedRug liner product is more durable, comfortable and versatile than a traditional drop-in or spray-on liner and is waterproof, corrosion resistant and can withstand wide temperature ranges. BedRug is well known throughout the aftermarket and is synonymous with high quality, innovative and durable bed protection for trucks and is a perfect complement to THI’s strategy of acquiring leading brands in the truck aftermarket industry.

5 Facts You Should Know

HID lighting has gained in popularity with good reason… HID lights last longer than factory installed halogen bulbs, they provide better visibility, and produce more light from less power. So, what are the main things you need to know about HIDs? Read on to find out…

HID Stands for High-intensity Discharge

The high-intensity of the light in HIDs comes from metallic salts which are vaporized in the light’s arc chamber. The light that results is much brighter than normal tungsten bulbs.

HID lights last longer than halogen bulbs because there is no filament in them to burn out

The average life of an HID lamp is 2000 hours, compared to the 450-1000 hours that a halogen lamp lasts. This is a definite advantage over halogen lights.

Kelvin Temperature determines brightness

Contrary to what most people think, the higher the Kelvin temperature number is, (i.e. 6000K, 8000K, 10000K) the less lumens, or lower the brightness level of the light is. On the other side of the token… the lower the number, the brighter it is.

Kelvin Temperature determines color

Also, the Kelvin temperature determines the color of the light. 3000K is yellow, 4500K is “factory” white, 6000K is pure white, 8000K is ice blue, 10000K is a bright violet, and 12000k is bright purple. The blue and white lights are the most popular, producing great visibility and a very cool look to the car.

HID lights use less energy than halogen lights

HIDs uses 35 watts, whereas most cars are typically made with a 55 watt system. Because of this, sometimes installing HIDs can cause a bulb out warning in your vehicle or a flickering effect. A set of Anti Flicker Capacitors can solve this problem.
