Kooks Custom Headers is proud to announce the release of their first ever 6-cylinder long tube header. Kooks has used their 45 plus years in header fabrication and design to produce the best long tube header on the market for the 2005-2008 Ford Mustang V6.

The header is offered in 1 5/8” x 2 ½”. Like their other production headers, this header will be made in 304 surgical grade Stainless Steel and will come with all emissions fittings. Kooks provides a lifetime guarantee on the header that it will never rust or crack. To complete this header, Kooks has three exciting connection pipes. The connection pipes will be 2 ½” and will bolt up to an array of different exhaust systems.

Kooks’ will be offering a Y-Pipe, H-Pipe and their famous X-Pipe. All three of these systems will come either with high flow catalytic converters or without, which can be used for off-road use only. O2 Extensions are needed for this application and are included with the complete exhaust system purchase.

Where did all of the sales go?

Which companies are thriving right now?

 

In talking to many companies in the aftermarket everyday, I get a chance to see patterns that might not otherwise be obvious.

Many Manufacturers, Shops, WD’s and Online stores tell me about their business, where they are this year compared to last year and what types of media are working for them.

 

I’ll use a couple of their stories as an example here, keeping the actual name of the companies private.

 

This is tremendously valuable information, so please read on!

 

Case #1

The first company is a well known 20 year old performance shop.

This particular shop operates with the utmost professionalism, has an extremely clean facility and is capable of doing everything in house, with an impressive track record long and distinguished enough to prove their abilities.

They also have an online store and are able to take orders online and ship product worldwide. They can tune, repair, build, fabricate, dyno….all in one place and on nearly any car.

 

The shop owner told me recently things have been slow, and that it seems like there are a lot of “new guys” getting a lot of the business.

I asked him if they’d been able to spend time posting in the forums and marketing themselves on the internet, and the answer was no.

 

This is a very common answer from some of the “old dogs” in the business.

It’s unfortunate that many of the companies out there with the most experience are suffering due to not making some adjustments necessary to get in front of consumers where they decide what products to buy or where to go for service.

 

Case #2

The second company is a performance manufacturer, selling both tangible and intangible products.

Their sales are up 40% this year and they do almost no print advertising at all.

Volkswagen Credit, Manheim Auto Auction, DDD and APR

These are just a few pictures from the Volkswagen Credit event at Manheim Auto Auction in Orlando, FL.

Last month, nearly 3,000 Audis and VWs were staged to run through the auction, and VW Credit threw a dealer party the night before with hired entertainment, full catering, and plenty of Audis / VW’s to look at.

One of my dream cars (Audi RS4 in Daytona Gray) was one of the featured cars.

Pics from Hooters in Orlando are up!

Hooters was mobbed last night as it is every year. I got there at 6:45 and the place was already packed….had to park 3 doors down, but it was well worth the walk!

If you’re into mustangs and fast Fords, this was definitely he place to be. 03 cobras, lightnings, powerstroke diesels, GT500’s, even a few scattered camaros and vettes congregated for food, drinks and big smoking burnouts.

(The guy in one of the older F body Camaros, knowing he was going to be in a tough crowd, wore a mullet wig while doing his burnouts, lol!)

Take a stroll into the parking lot on any given day, and the aftermath of prior years fun is obvious when you take a look at the asphalt….in many places it’s literally melted away leaving only the substrate behind.

This year, they had a concrete “burnout box” beside the building, with a clear view for all passers by driving on 408. I think I’m still coughing up tire compound =o)

Can you really set the ground on fire doing a burnout? Ask Matt at Spartan diesel. Better yet, here are some pictures:

These were Matt’s brand new tires too….less then 2 days old =o)

Oh, and in this picture, you can see how it’s possible to set your brakes on fire. This fire gleamed for almost a full minute! (through the smoke in the pic below, you’ll see the out line of a wheel and the brakes on fire)
